The Many Balls We Juggle ... Is the Health Ball Worth Dropping?

The Juggling Glass and Rubber Balls Speech

  • During September 1991, Mr. Bryan Dyson, former CEO of Coca-Cola delivered a commencement speech at Georgia Tech, closing off with an illustration of five balls that’s now popularly known as the “Five Balls of Life.”
  • He called the four balls of Family, Friends, Health & Well-Being, and Spirit all your "Glass Balls".
  • The Rubber Ball - the ball of Work, is the only one that will bounce back.
  • What cannot bounce back that easily, likely shattered or damaged, will be the Balls of Family, Friends, Spirit & Health & Well-Being.

"Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them—work, family, health, friends, and spirit—and you're keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls—family, health, friends, and spirit—are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.”

What you would prioritize from these four glass balls will be based on your set of priorities.

But I want to go one step further ... if you drop the glass ball of Health and Well-Being, none of the others may remain unscathed either.  Every one of the other balls will be impacted by your state of Health & Well-Being.

How can you safeguard your Glass Ball of Health & Well-Being?

Qualifying Health & Well-Being

Health has a direct correlation to the available percentage of Resource Elements you have available to you during the course of your lifetime.  We are all born with a certain percentage of Resource Elements.

It has many different layers and should not be read just as a single ‘enough’ or ‘not enough’ diagnoses. Your environment, your diet, your lifestyle and your mindset will impact greatly on the amount that you have available.

The percentages of these Resource Elements change as well during the course of our lifetime.

Every day, month, year and what is referred to as a "Luck Cycle", you may have less or more available to you.

A Quick Overview of the Direct Resource Element:

Poor quality Direct Resource Element:

  • When the Direct Resource element for a person is of a poor quality and weak, this denotes a lack of stamina and vitality, a slow and lethargic mannerism in life.
  • There is a lack of vibrancy, and this person will most likely not exude energy.
  • This does not mean sickly - just are not particularly robust characters.
  • When the Direct Resource is of poor quality and weak, illness only occurs when the Direct Resource is the target of an interaction in the natal birth chart such as a clash or combination.
  • Sickly individual has a weak Direct Resource and weak Day Master.

Too Much Direct Resources:

  • Qi or energy vibrational stagnation or compromised immune system, which is hypersensitive, occurs when the person has a too high percentage of Direct Resource.
  • This gives rise to a tendency to get sick as a result of a change in weather, a change in their surroundings or environment and more susceptible than usual to common ailments such as the common cold.

Missing Resource Element:

  • Direct Resource is the aspect in a chart that provides an indication of the state of a person’s overall health.
  • This is an indicator of whether a person is in good health or poor health.
  • A missing Resource does not indicate a person without health, but rather the person’s state of health.
  • This can indicate a lack of awareness of one’s body and whether or not it is functioning optimally or poorly.
  • A person with no Resource element does not realize that they may be ill or may not be aware that they have a health problem.
  • When they then get sick, they usually experience a very severe form of illness since they usually do not catch anything early.
  • Missing Resource element people may also live with an illness for a long time or present as asymptomatic and only find out when it is very severe or too late.
  • As missing Resource Element relates to a missing health indicator, this results in instances where even the doctors cannot find out what is wrong with the person until it is extremely obvious.

Wouldn't you agree that it is more advantageous for your health & well-being to rather prevent or pre-empt certain health issues?

You can also increase your Immunity as well as Strengthen your Liver's strength.  The Liver is critical as it has a direct relation to the ability of your body to filter out toxins from your body.

Your Immune System has two components:  The Inborn [or Innate Immune System] and the Adaptive Immune System.  Both of these Systems have to function harmoniously with the rest of your body's ecology to help to protect your body from invaders like bacteria, viruses, parasites, toxins and fungus.

In closing, a basic understanding that the reference to "elements" do not refer to the actual physical five elements but also includes other factors like actions, consciousness or mindset, sensory organs, yin and yang functions, and much more.

In Chinese Medicine, elements are used in a multitude of applications and in no way would an absence any one particular element only indicate one thing.
